Conservative Republicans Outperform All Democrats On Energy Issues

(crossposted from DailyKos)

We've been pushing this whole Stranded Wind Initiative along for a few months now and we're finally getting traction. We've got a lovely collection of contributors, most of whom were harvested right here on DailyKos, we've got investors looking at our Freedom Fertilizer investment vehicle, again from DailyKos ...

And if it weren't for Iowa State Senator Jack Kibbie's interest the Democratic Party is completely oblivious to our existence, while we're getting fantastic support from our very conservative Republican representatives(!)

Last week I got a very nice call from a staffer from Steve King's office. Yes, that Steve King, the one from Iowa District 05, perfect score from Focus on the Family, recently reviled here for certain statements made on KICD, and so forth. Representative King gets a perfect score from us also, for having a staffer who actually gives us an occasional call to see how we're doing, and the most recent call will lead to us helping a local manufacturer of small scale wind turbines get rolling.

Not to be outdone, our Senate delegation on the red side of the aisle is listening, too. Senator Chuck Grassley (R) Iowa, actually waved me over for a short chat after a Rotary lunch in Estherville, Iowa. We talked about the soon to lapse $0.02/kilowatt hour wind produced electricity Production Tax Credit, and I was quite surprised to find out this was his initiative from 1992, rather than something that came from the Democratic side of the aisle. I was quite concerned about this as its ending puts our wind turbine manufacturers in danger, but the Senator assured me he will be protecting his legacy in this area.

This isn't just the local connection at work, either. I recently heard from someone here about a Republican House member in another state who might be interested in the work we do, Roscoe Barlett, interested to the point that our work might be mentioned in a floor speech in the House.

So ... are there any Democrats out there who are interested in renewable energy, or are they all too busy with other priorities? I feel like I ought to idle this ID and go create one over at RedState ...
