We all knew this. We all knew that it would take more time than any of us want to dig ourselves out of this hole created by this economic crisis.

Alabama Football

Football in Alabama has a very rich history that is over 70 years long. Alabama managed to achieve a dominant spot in college football and are currently maintaining it at the highest level possible. Alabama managed to be the team that won the most NCAA championships ever with 12 successes. We can say that Alabama football is almost a religion and on every Saturday people pay attention to the Roll Tide.

Alabama started to become nationally known in football when Wallace Wade took over the team as head coach. He was a well known Brown alum that took on the job as the team was struggling. Wade managed to turn things around thanks to his coaching skills and the influence of the athletic director. This made it possible for the school to eventually bring in athletes from different places around the country and the focus was shifted from just Alabama students. This trend ended up being highly popular among all schools and is even noticed today. Thanks to Wade the Alabama football managed to win 2 championships during his 8 years as a head coach. The first one was also the one that turned Alabama into a national force in 1926. Even after Wade left the team managed to stay strong and won another 4 national championships.

Alabama football went through tough times during the fifties as their credibility was constantly dropping. In 1958 we saw Paul Bryant taking over at a time where the team was struggling. He managed to turn the team into one of the most successful ever in NCAA football. Bryant ended up coaching the team for an impressive 24 years before he eventually retired in 1983. While he was in charge Alabama football flourished and the team won 13 conference championships and 6 national championships. At the moment of him retiring, Bryant became the best ever college football coach, a distinction he still has today. Unfortunately he died a month after retiring because of a heart attack.

Ever since Bryant left the team a number of coaches tried to reach the success levels he had but they were not successful. Unfortunately for Alabama football, the team just managed to win 2 conference championships and 1 national championship and there hasn’t been a national title won since 1992. Even so, Crimson Tide and Alabama football in general manage to still be a force when talking about college football.

If you visit Alabama make sure that you also visit the college football grounds if you are a fan. People from all over the world come to see the legacy that Bryant and many others left here. Even today, people still believe that his leadership was unique and nobody will be able to surpass him in terms of results. Although Alabama football is currently struggling, there is a lot of confidence that the team will get back on top. Thanks to new management and new coaching this could be achieved in the near future. Specialists believe that time still needs to pass but success will surely arrive.
